Launched in late JUNE 2011, this cool new study notes online tool features a revolutionary system that allows you to easily upload all of your study notes or lessons plans, and store them online. The system immediately goes to work creating a searchable data base of all of your notes, featuring note pages with automatically generated links to other relevant pages of notes you have.

Essentially they build a cool website out for your notes that looks and feels a lot like Wikipedia – but it’s all about your notes. It does not end there. Studyup allows you to network with other students studying similar subjects or topics. The StudyUp “StudySpider” scans your notes and cross references your information with all notes in the StudyUp database. Recommendations are then made to the user for networking opportunities.

Much like Facebook, StudyUp allows you to search for other students in the same school, class, or even the same subject as you. You could be studying Physics in Vancouver, Canada and become study buddies with another, same year physics student in Florida. You can share certain subjects with only certain people, and use the StudyUp User Home Page to get instant updates when Study Buddies in your “Feed” upload new notes to StudyUp.

There is a useful study skills tips section as well that features articles written by users on various subjects. You can also like StudyUp on Facebook, and follow the progress as the team builds new features to make teacher & student lives easier and more efficient.

Overall this looks like a promising new site. The best part of all, as part of the launch program, for a limited time only, StudyUp is offering to PAY students to get their notes live on StudyUp. Make some extra cash this summer, upload last year’s notes, and be better prepared for next year! If you are interested in the program send an e-mail to jrichards@studyup.com.

I’ve noticed, since I started my MBA online program, that no matter who someone is, they undoubtedly have an opinion about online learning. Unfortunately there are a wealth of myths – some unspoken, some hotly debated – circulating around the topic. Shattering these common myths about online learning can revitalize the motivation of an online learner, or even convert a former naysayer into a well-informed defender of the online learning process.

Myth: Online Learning is Easier Than ‘Traditional’ Learning
The truth is, online learning is in many ways more challenging than the rigors of traditional learning. From elementary school to university education, online learners are often largely self-directed. This translates to students with a high level of discipline and motivation to succeed.

In fact, the online learning environment develops tech-savvy students that are completely ready to learn and work in our current, media-driven society. From utilizing multimedia presentations to mastering multilingual software in language education – online learners take on tough challenges that molds them positively.

Myth: Online Learners Don’t Succeed
Online learners are incredibly prepared to face the demands of a globally minded, interconnected world. The flexibility and challenging nature of online learning environments prepares well-rounded students that understand how to get things done, effective time management, and the importance of personal growth in balance with academic growth.

The format of online learning is extremely conducive to passionate students. By the end of an achievement milestone – such as the obtainment of a bachelor’s degree – a student has developed deep passions in different areas of their learning. This stays with them, and helps feed their creativity and productivity as they move on to the next stage in their lives and careers.

Myth: Online Learning Doesn’t Meet The Standards of ‘Traditional’ Learning
Online learners both meet and surpass the standards of traditional learning. The online classroom is constantly evolving to a more innovative state, motivating students to go beyond those ‘normal’ expectations.

For example, high school level online learners prepare for the SAT or ACT standardized text for their pathway to college; this is expected in many cases. Yet these same students go beyond the standard of common test preparation, deepening their knowledge of certain skills and facts that last in a much longer way than traditional classroom education.

Conclusion: Online Learning Myths Are Just That – Myths.
The foundational qualities of online learning, including self-reliance and discipline, leads to successful students that thoroughly appreciate the educational process.

Earn a Living:

You can do many exciting things if you are interested in providing information that is vital in enriching knowledge. It is not just me, who is saying this but even the government has its say on this. The statistics confirm that inflation rise statistics even include the soaring price of the text material. In such a scenario if you can create something that is valuable, you are sure to draw a lot of mullah.
Buying such textbooks often comes hard on the parent’s wallet of university students; moreover, a particular set of books is not enough, as there is different study material for different semesters. If a student is supporting himself then this can be a real concern.
The scene is not different for the writers, there is stiff competition in the market and so the publishing houses are keen to take advantage of such a competition. On the contrary creating and publishing content online is relatively easy and cheap. If you have your own website then the content that you have produced can be offered to the interested people at a nominal fee.
Moreover, you can even earn well through providing online tutorials. If you are an innovative and creative person then these skills will be handy to you, as this field requires realization of the latest trends and unique services to be successful.

Social Cause:

Today we are living on the edge; the entire world may fall apart because of the ever-increasing problem of global warming. We can contribute our bit towards the environment conservation efforts by saving the valuable resources that are employed in creating textbooks and study materials.

It is the noblest of pursuits, the want and desire to become an educator. To shape young minds and to inform and influence the future. It is a course of education that requires thought, concern and discipline.

And while the pursuit of any degree requires discipline, the path of an online degree requires even that much more. For anyone who has finished and undergrad degree program, you know the ‘sticktuidivness’ and fortitude that it requires to get up every day, make it to class, finish projects, complete assignments and finish your degree. For some, the path was pretty straightforward and began shortly after graduating high school. In these instances the difficulties faced were that of youth. It’s tough to get up with a hangover on a weekday and make it to an 8:30 class when in all likelihood you’re living on your own for the first time in your life. No parents to tell you when to be home, only a dorm room and a roommate in the same situation to keep you on your path. If you took a different path and chose to go to school later in life, then perhaps the challenges you faced were more of a mature nature. From juggling work and children and school… adult education presents its own unique set of challenges.

But no matter your situation or walk of life, the choice to get an online education degree is one that can’t be entered into lightly. This is a path to a wonderful and rewarding career that requires a steady, patient and disciplined mind. There are no real life professors who can give you a stern look for a missed assignment, nor can you excuse away late submissions. There are no deans coming to check your attendance. There is only you and your discipline. Such a degree requires you to move away from the distractions of daily life. The decision to get to class is an easy one. The far more difficult choice is to shut down the television, put the kids to bed, and get in front of your laptop and get to work.

But if you are choosing to seek a degree in education then it is discipline that will guide you, not just in attaining your degree… but also during your career. It’s not easy to grade papers every night, or dealing with the challenges of reluctant youth, it is something that takes guided fortitude. So with that said, maybe choosing to pursue your education degree online is, after all, the best choice that you could make.
